One of the core services of H.E.L.P. House is to ensure that area children, especially those whose families are struggling to make ends meet, have equal access to healthy food, clothing, and the necessities and opportunities that all children need to feel successful, prepared, and confident.

H.E.L.P. House’s annual back-to-school outreach provides school supplies and backpacks before the beginning of each new school year. This year’s distribution focuses on children in grades K-8 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 10 at H.E.L.P. House, 122 E. Center St., London. Back-to-school clothing also will be available that day.

Donations of school supplies, backpacks, new and gently used clothing, as well as new socks, shoes, underwear, and monetary donations for clothing items are due to H.E.L.P. House by noon on Aug. 7. Items can be dropped off on Mondays 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9 a.m.-noon, and Saturdays 9-11 a.m.

Needed school supplies include:
index cards;
colored pencils;
highlighters;
pencil pouches;
pocket folders;
blue, black and red ink pens;
spiral notebooks, wide and college rule;
loose leaf notebook paper, wide and college rule;
1-inch and 3-inch 3 ring binders; and
new backpacks.

Volunteers are needed on Aug. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. to assist with setup for the back-to-school outreach event and on Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m to help with distribution and teardown.
